Appointment of non-executive director
As part of the ongoing board renewal process, The a2 Milk Company ("a2MC" or
the "Company") is pleased to advise that the Board has today resolved to
appoint Mr Jesse Wu as a non-executive Director of the Company, effective
from today.
Jesse was most recently Chairman of Johnson & Johnson China and a Member of
Johnson & Johnson''s Management Committee, until his retirement in 2016.
Over his career Jesse has managed significant scale and complexity in the
areas of manufacturing, distribution, sales and marketing, in both developed
and emerging markets. He began his career with Procter & Gamble and PepsiCo,
before joining Johnson & Johnson''s consumer business in 1989 as Finance
Director, Taiwan. Jesse was appointed Managing Director, Johnson & Johnson
China in 1995 and became President for Greater China in 2000. Jesse was
named International Vice President, Asia/Pacific in 2003 and Company Group
Chairman, Global Markets in 2008. Prior to his last executive position, he
was Worldwide Chairman of the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Group (which had
annual revenues of US$14bn).
Aside from his corporate career, Jesse is a Non-Executive Director of Hong
Kong listed, Li Ning, and also serves on the Board of Visitors at Duke
University''s Fuqua School of Business. Jesse is a two-time recipient of the
Magnolia Award from the Shanghai Municipal Government, given in recognition
of his contributions to Shanghai''s economic development.
Commenting on his appointment, Jesse said "I am delighted to be joining the
a2MC board at this exciting time in the Company''s development and to be able
to bring my experience of the China market to enhance the future growth of
the business in the region."
The Chairman, David Hearn, commented "The appointment of Jesse is part of the
Company''s programme to increase our skill and capability base within the Asia
region and China specifically, as the importance of this region continues to
grow."
The Board has determined that Jesse Wu is an Independent Director.
