Honda Civic Type R TCR revealed at Geneva show

Alongside the Honda Jazz X-Road, the Honda Civic Type R TCR also makes its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The race car is set to make its debut during this year’s inaugural season of the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR), which takes over from the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

According to the TCR technical regulations put forth by the FIA, which takes from TC1 rules used by the WTCC, the vehicles must be four- or five-door sedans or hatchbacks. Only front-wheel drive, turbocharged powertrains are permitted, with a capacity of between 1,750 to 2,000 cc, and no more than 355 hp (350 bhp).

The Civic Type R TCR meets all the above requirements, and comes fitted with plenty of aerodynamic components like a full body kit and a large rear wing. A full roll cage and stripped out interior are the other modifications made on the race car.

For the WTCR series, factory team entries will not be permitted, but manufacturers will be allowed to offer technical support to participating teams. As a result, FIA World Cup titles will be for drivers and teams, with no manufacturers’ title up for grabs.

A maximum of 26 entries will be accepted with priority given to existing TCR International and WTCC teams. Two further wildcard entries will be permitted at each event at the discretion of WTCR promoter Eurosport Events Limited (EEL) and the FIA.

Ini racing car lah abang. Build to FIA specifications for racing. Hence no creature comforts like passenger or rear seats, no sound proofing, no air-cond, no 7″ touch screen entertainment console, no arm rest or coffee cups holder.

Am sure Honda Malaysia can (AP) import one for you should you have the cash.
