Scientists discover that 'Jesus Christ's tomb' is older than thought

Jerusalem's Church of the Holy Sepulchre is among Christianity's most revered sites and has long been said to house the tomb of Jesus Christ.

Recent scientific dating of materials at the proclaimed burial site corroborates early Roman accounts of the location being a holy place, bringing researchers closer to confirming it as Christ's actual place of interment.

Scientists from the National Technical University of Athens employed a variety of analysis means to determine that adhesives used in the long enclosed monument date to roughly 325 AD.

National Geographic reports that the tomb was discovered by the Romans and enshrined around 326. It further notes the new dating results put the original construction of today's tomb complex securely in the time of Constantine, Rome's first Christian emperor.
