By Amy Lam and Benny Kung
Nikkei Markets
HONG KONG (Dec 20) -- Hong Kong shares ended little changed on Wednesday, with some market heavyweights and Apple suppliers declining as investors appeared to take profits, while consumer companies gained amid optimism over China's economic prospects in 2018.

The Hang Seng Index gave up less than 0.1% to 29,234.09. Social-media major Tencent Holdings and life insurer AIA Group declined 1% and 0.9%, respectively. Apple's suppliers returned to losses on Wednesday, after a solid rally since the beginning of the year, with AAC Technology Holdings sliding 0.7% and Sunny Optical Technology Group shedding 1%. Sunny Optical has nearly tripled and AAC almost doubled this year. Both stocks advanced on Tuesday, halting a five-day losing streak.
