HONG KONG (Oct 16) -- Hong Kong shares climbed Monday, taking the Hang Seng Index close to 10-year highs, aided by strong inflows from China and U.S. stock advances on Friday.
By midday, Hong Kong's benchmark equity gauge had risen 0.9% to 28,717.62, a level not seen since December 2007. Chinese financial stocks traded higher ahead of the start of the 19th Communist Party Congress in Beijing on Wednesday where top leaders for the next five years will be selected.
