KUWAIT, Nov 8 (KUNA) -- 1962 -- The Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, receives a draft of the constitution from Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Abdullah Mohammad Thunayan Al-Ghanim. The Amir endorses it three days later with no amendments.
1967 -- The Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issues decree regulating procedures for scholarships granted to graduates and civil servants abroad.
1971 -- The Cooperative Society Union was established, a leap forward in regulating the co-op sector.
1995 -- Minister of Communications and Minister of Electricity and Water Jassem Al-Oun inaugurates a V-Sat station in Umm Al-Haiman area, the first of its kind in the Middle East.
2001 -- Hussein Al-Saleh, a pioneer director of Kuwaiti theater and television, passes away at the age of 66.
2002 -- Kuwait's Club for the Disabled wins the World Fencing Tournament hosted by the US with participation of 11 states. Kuwait is the sole Arab country that takes part in the championship.
2004 -- Iraq's Vice President Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari arrives in Kuwait on a three-day official visit.
2006 -- Chairman and Director General of the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources Jassem Al-Bader issues an order whereby all falcons used for personal hunting must be registered.
2007 -- The Central Bank of Kuwait raises the value of the Kuwaiti dinar against the US dollar for the first time in 19 years, bringing the currency exchange to 276.35 fils compared to 276.45, at an increase of 0.04 percent.
2010 -- New building for the Higher Institute of Telecommunication and Navigation opens in Shuwaikh. (end) mb
