Former Mount Isa plumber Dan Leyden won the inaugural year of Australia’s Most Ordinary Rig, and was eligible after wearing budgies at the rodeo.
The national winner’s advice to aspiring candidates this year was; “breakfast, lunch and dinner at Grant’s Cakes and Pies.”
Brand Budgy Smuggler said, “this bloke we are searching for is exceptional in his ordinariness.”
“The prestigious competition dubbed as being for ‘dad bods without needing to have kids’ is expected to be contested by hundreds of Australian men.”
Budgy Smuggler’s representative Jarrod Allen said in April that the prize this year would be even better than a billboard.
The billboard he referred to was a bonus prize for Dan Leyden, which was installed in his honour advertising budgie smugglers east of Mount Isa.
