STRONGSVILLE, Ohio - The much anticipated "A Taste in Strongsville, Savor the Flavor" fundraiser for local food banks is scheduled for Thursday, October 6. This popular event is sponsored by Rotary of Strongsville. Tickets are on sale now. Be sure to get your tickets early because this event always sells out. If you've ever been to it you know why - incredible food and wine by Cleveland's best restaurants.

Culinary creations this year include: Barrio, Bhelwala Indian Street Food, Blue Point Grille/Kingfish, B-Spot, Bucci's J. Bella, Butcher & Brewer, Tremont Tap House, Carrie Cerino's, Cleveland Chop, Corleones, Cowell & Hubbard/Zack Bruell Restaurants, DC Pasta, Don's Pomeroy, Fahrenheit, Italian Village, Johnny's Bar, Old Carolina BBQ, Olympia Candies, Press WineBar/Market, Ritos Bakery, Shinto's Starbucks, The Cute Little Cake Shop, Town Hall and Trivs. Plus exceptional wines, craft wines and incredible desserts. All this for only $85 per person. It's a bargain, really, plus you will supporting food banks throughout the area.

The annual Napa Valley, California winery trip will be raffled off with an additional night added for the first 100 tickets sold. Tickets are $100 each. The all expenses paid trip is normally three days, but early birds who purchase the first 100 raffle tickets will get an extra day if their ticket is the winner. There will also be a Rolex watch raffle and a silent auction with baskets and fabulous donations from local businesses.

The festivities will take place at Petitti Garden Centers once again at 18941 Pearl Rd. The greenhouse is magically transformed into an elegant, ballroom with sparkling lights, beautiful decorations, linen tablecloths and, of course, beautiful plants. Thomas Jefferson is returning to Strongsville: If you missed his extraordinary appearance two years ago you missed a lot! Here's your chance to meet him again in person - aka professional actor J.D. Sutton. He will be giving his one-man show at the Old Town Hall on Oct. 7 and 8 to benefit Strongsville Community Theatre. Oct. 7 is $20 advance, $25 at the door for the perfomance.  Oct. 8 is a dinner performance for $50 with a catered meal in full Monticello style. PPG Foundation awards scholarship: The PPG Foundation has awarded a PPG Employee-Child Scholarship to Lauren Boros, daughter of PPG employee Jennifer Boros, and a graduate of Olmsted Falls High School who will be attending Baldwin Wallace University. National Merit Scholarship Corp. named Boros and other children of PPG associates as scholarship winners based on excellent achievement in a qualifying test taken during their junior year of high school.

The PPG Foundation scholarship award is $1,500 per year for up to four years of college study or until undergraduate degree requirements are completed, whichever comes first. Since the foundation initiated its scholarship program in 1956, it has awarded more than 3,500 scholarships. In 2016, the foundation sponsored 43 new scholarships.
