Stretch class — Alley Room, East Fishkill Community Library, 348 Route 376, Hopewell Junction. 3-4 p.m. Tuesdays. Brigitta Mueller, an ex-dancer and exercising enthusiast, will lead this free class. The class is recommended for seniors but everyone can participate. Chairs are used for support and security. The class is designed to gain flexibility, muscle strength, coordination and balance, all important elements for a safe and independent lifestyle. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for exercise and movement. Class is limited to 25 participants. 845-221-9943.
Teen Challenge program — Mental Health America of Dutchess County, 253 Mansion St., Poughkeepsie. 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays. Teen Challenge is a group process for SED or at-risk youth ages 14-19; weekly life skills, curriculum instruction and activities. Community Stitchers — Alley Room, East Fishkill Community Library, 348 Route 376, Hopewell Junction. 12:30-3 p.m. Tuesdays. The Community Stitchers meet weekly to sew for others, working on a variety of projects including bedrolls for the homeless in our area and quilts for the babies and children at the Poughkeepsie Children’s Home. Additionally the group has been making cozies for local Meals on Wheels groups to keep the delivered meals hot. Participants may bring equipment such as sewing machine, rotary cutter and board or iron to help with these projects. 845-221-9943.
