The Central Bank of Libya in Tripoli received Wednesday afternoon an amount of Libyan dinar banknotes that landed in Mitiga airport coming from the UK.

The CBL explained on its website that the amount is worth 112.5 million dinars (5’s) pointing out that it will receive another amount of money worth 250 million dinars in mid-June.

It also reassured that it is going to distribute the money to all commercial banks across the country without any exception, including the issuing department in Al-Bayda according to the legislations.

The parallel Al-Bayda-based CBL received an amount of banknotes, which was part of a deal signed with Russia to print new banknotes, and then it started distributing them to the banks in the eastern region. However, these banknotes were regarded as counterfeit by the Tripoli-based CBL, prohibiting their use by banks, businessmen and citizens.
