Halo developer 343 Industries announced in a blog post on May 27 that the next free update for Halo 5: Guardians, Hog Wild, will release next week on May 31, joining the likes of Memories of Reach to become the second free Halo 5 expansion to arrive this month.

Unlike previous expansions, Hog Wild won't feature any new maps. Instead, the update will add a bunch of items and, as the name of the update suggests, some new vehicles.

Specifically, it will add four variations of the Warthog, the 4WD ATV that's been a mainstay of the series since its inception. Ranging from the Rally Warthog to the Vespin Rocket Warthog, players will be able to drive around the various multiplayer maps in style.

Other additions will include a hybrid weapon scope and armor sets. Those items and everything else can be seen in the picture below:

The developer also took the time to reiterate that since Hog Wild was supposed to include "bigger items," the team needed more time for finishing polishes. As such, those items will be included with the Warzone Firefight expansion at the end of June.

While on the subject of Warzone Firefight, one of the more notable changes coming to the mode will be making matches more dynamic.

One way the 343 intends to do this is by mixing up the various boss encounters a player might face on any given map. For example, on Apex 7, at the 2-minute mark, a Zealot Assassin Boss might spawn in the Caves, or a Ranger Commander and an accompanying squad might show up at the beaches. By doing this, players will be able to experience an added touch of variety, even if they play on the same map repeatedly.

In addition, Warzone Legendary bosses will offer a "bigger payoff" when you take them down, and the bosses themselves will have more of a "visual identity."

However, as mentioned before, that won't be coming until the end of June. In the meantime, fans can look forward to Tuesday when Hog Wild arrives.
