Here's why Chick-fil-A might be out of chocolate chunk cookies

Chick-fil-A has recalled its chocolate chunk cookies because they may contain a peanut allergen.

If for some reason you bought a chocolate chunk cookie last week at Chick-fil-A and didn't save room for dessert, put down the cookie.

Chick-fil-A has issued a voluntary recall of cookies sold nationwide prior to Friday, April 25. The reason: supplier CSM Bakery Solutions identified a potential presence of undeclared peanut allergens.

Nutrition and allergen information indicates the cookie is peanut-free, so that's what led to the recall.

Anyone with an uneaten cookie can return them to Chick-fil-A for a full refund.

Because Chick-fil-A's shelves have been wiped free of the potentially contaminated food, chocolate chunk cookies could be in short supply.

"Restaurants will begin to serve cookies again within the next 1-2 weeks, and cookies will be available on a limited basis until supplies can be fully restocked by the end of May," according to the company's statement.

There are six Chick-fil-A locations in Lee County, two in Collier County and one in Charlotte County.
