Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels admits his side were left disappointed on Thursday night after a below-par performance against Jurgen Klopp's well-drilled Liverpool side.

Divock Origi gave the away side the lead in the first half before Hummels levelled with a powerful header but the German side were far from their best at Signal Iduna Park.

And the Germany international said Dortmund lacked their usual creative verve, while admitting he played a part in handing Liverpool their away goal.

He told Sport1: 'I'm not really sure If I should be satisfied, we didn't play that well. We could have created more chances with more cleverness.

'The goal against us was too easy. I should not have come out there. I thought we had a comfortable situation but obviously we hadn't.

'At the end the result is okay.'

Even before the game had got under way, many spoke about the emotional rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' sung by both sets of supporters.

But Hummels revealed this is nothing out of the ordinary and praised the Dortmund fans for their support week-in-week-out.

'The atmosphere here is always very well, we have the best atmosphere in Europe and the best fans as well. So this was pretty normal for us,' he added.
