Program: "A Community Conversation: Living with Lung Cancer": 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, 3320 Old Jefferson Road, Building 700. Hosted by UCBC's Dr. Petros George Nikolinakos. The program will feature a summary of research advances and clinical trials by UCBC's Dr. Petros G. Nancy Travis Childcare Project "Over the Edge" Launch Party: Thursday. "Over the Edge" is a community-wide event to raise money for children by recruiting people to raise a minimum of $1,000 to rappel down the side of a building. At the launch, guests will meet 2016 "Over the Edge" participant and National Superintendent of the Year Phil Lanoue and his wife, Vickie and other rappelers, learn more about the event and how to sign up or donate to the event. www.nancytravis.org/over-the-edge-fundraiser.

Native plant propagation: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, State Botanical Gardens of Georgia, 2450 S. Milledge Ave. Learn the basics of propagating native wildflowers and shrubs by seeds, cuttings, and division. Models for inexpensive grow-light systems and a propagation timeline will be provided to ensure that seedlings are ready to be transplanted outdoors in early spring. Boulevard Woods Park ribbon cutting: 2 p.m. Friday, Boulevard Woods Park, 298 Barber St. A ribbon cutting ceremony to open the newly completed Boulevard Woods Park. Boulevard Woods Park is a heavily-wooded 1.8 acre site. The site will serve as a neighborhood focal point with the potential to be integrated into a future greenway network and/or a rails-to-trails project. Parking is available on Boulevard. SATURDAY

Class: Winter tree identification: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, State Botanical Garden of Georgia, 2450 S. Milledge Ave. Learn the basics of identifying trees in the winter by learning about twigs, bark, leaf scars, fruits and tree form. Students will learn to use a hand lens and a simple key for woody plants to identify species. Class time will be divided between classroom exercises and a field trip to the deciduous woods at the Botanical Garden. Cost is $50. www.botgarden.uga.edu.

Classic City Rollergirls Green vs. Black: 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Akins Arena, The Classic Center, 300 N. Thomas St. See the Classic City Rollergirls go skate-to-skate against each other in their Green versus Black bout. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Citizen Advocacy. Kids Code Class: Learn Ruby with Hackety Hack:9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Four Athens, 345 W. Hancock Ave. Hackety Hack teaches the basics of programming in the Ruby language from the ground up. No previous programming experience necessary. Ruby is used for multiple programs, including desktop applications and websites. Future classes will build on the skills learned in this class. For ages 8 and older. Laptop required. HTML/CSS Boot Camp: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Four Athens, 345 W. Hancock Ave. Participants will be introduced to HTML and CSS, the building blocks of the web, and learn how to build a website from scratch using HTML, how to incorporate frameworks into a website to give users functionality that they don't have to write, and how to use CSS to make a website look awesome. Wake-N-Bake Off presented by Terrapin Beer Co. and MyAthens: 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Terrapin Brewery, 265 Newton Bridge Road. Terrapin will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of its Wake-n-Bake Coffee Oatmeal Stout Sunday and Jan. 31. Terrapin will present 16 sweet and savory dishes from professional chefs and home cooks each day. All food will be cooked using Terrapin beer as an ingredient.
