Goodman Fielder, Tuckers Ice cream yesterday sealed its 7th year of continued association with Basketball Fiji sponsoring the Tuckers National Secondary Schools Basketball Championship.

This partnership was established in 2009, with Tuckers Ice Cream’s commitment to support sports development in the country. Sponsorship as such provides a platform for students to showcase their talents with the opportunity of further development.

The Tuckers Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship will be held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, Fiji from Monday to Thursday next week.

The four- day event will see teams representing schools in Tailevu, Levuka, Suva, Nadi, Lautoka and Ba. The schools include Queen Victoria, Tailevu North, Adi Cakobau, Saint John College, Xavier College, Ba Pro, Natabua High, Jasper, Nadi International, Swami Vivekananda College, Marist Brothers High, Yat Sen Secondary, Suva Grammar, Cathedral High, Gospel High, Latter Day Saints College, J Narayan College, John Wesley College, International Secondary and Saint Joseph Secondary.

With a $15,000 sponsorship donation Basketball Fiji vice- president Ned Taito thanked Tuckers Ice Cream for their contribution towards sports development. This helped former ACS student, Miliakere Koyamainavure a secondary school student going to represent the country internationally and is now on a four-year basketball scholarship in Missouri among few others.

These opportunities would not have been possible without the contribution of Tuckers Ice Cream.

Goodman Fielder marketing manager  Clifford Morris thanked the National Basketball Association for creating this platform for students of Fiji who may be looking at sporting careers and opportunities.  It is encouraging to see the sport evolve with our sponsorship over the past years.
