One Stop Shop For Car Owners

You will never miss this carwash spot when you drive past Rokobili Container Yard. It’s opposite the Lovonilase cemetery and you will never miss as it is the home to many minibuses that service the Suva- Lautoka highway.

Operating for almost nine years, the Rokobili Car Wash and Tyre Centre belongs to John Adesh. It has been a one- stop car wash spot for many public service vehicles.

Mr Adesh said his car wash business is mainly for ordinary car owners, minibus and taxi drivers as well.

“Most of my clients are minibus drivers who travel daily from Suva to Lautoka and vice-versa. This is the best place for them because of our location and the prices we offer them for our service as well,” he said.

Mr Adesh started his business about eight years ago after he left his job.

He resigned from his job after a dispute over his Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) deductions.

“After resigning, I was going around trying to think of what to do for a living. I thought of driving a taxi and then the idea of having a car wash business came to mind,” Mr Adesh said.

“I sought for assistance from the Fiji Development Bank (FDB) and they gave me a loan, which helped me start this business.”

Apart from the minibuses that come for cleaning, he says, his other faithful customers are taxi drivers.

And their reason for coming is simple.

“This is probably the cheapest place around. I only charge them $2 to $3 because they serve the public on a daily basis and they need their cars to be cleaned daily as well,” Mr Adesh said.

The services provided by his business is car washing and general cleaning. He said they wash cars, vacuum the inside of the vehicles, polish tyres as well as body shine.

“Prices actually depend on the size of the vehicles and the services provided but I assure you that the prices are low. It is affordable for everyone,” he said.

His business operates on a 24-hour, seven-day a week basis.

TYRE SERVICES

Mr Adesh said with them you can kill two birds with one stone.

Apart from getting your tyre fixed you can also have your car cleaned. He also sells second-hand tyres.

“My tyres are all used tyres brought in from overseas but they are still in very good condition,” he said.

“Instead of buying new ones for $300, you can come and get the same for as low as $60 to $80. My prices are not more than that price range.”

Me Adesh said he sells all brand of tyres and that is an advantage for vehicle owners.

“They can come in and choose for themselves from the varieties that we have. We have been doing this business for nearly nine years now so we know exactly what our clients want.”

Mr Adesh said most of his clients are from the interior of Viti Levu.

“I have a lot of clients from Namosi, Vunidawa, Lomaivuna and other parts of the interior. They come here because it is affordable and also the location that we have.”

Mr Adesh is advising all drivers that they must first understand all parts of a tyre in order to keep their tyre safe for a long period of time.

He recalled not knowing anything about tyres when he started his business.

“When I left my work I decided to have a car wash business but to have it joined with a tyre centre because we hardly have car washing business with a tyre centre together,” Mr Adesh said.

“It finally eventuated after FDB assisted me financially and I went out my own way to learn about tyres. One of the biggest help I got was getting information from the internet and now I am well-versed with it.”
