Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Financial Services and Precision Instruments sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nitto Boseki Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:3110), which rose 7.79% or 43.0 points to trade at 595.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Shinsei Bank, Ltd. (TOKYO:8303) added 3.86% or 10.0 points to end at 269.0 and Tobu Railway Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:9001) was up 3.84% or 21.0 points to 568.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yokogawa Electric Corp. (TOKYO:6841), which fell 4.28% or 69.0 points to trade at 1545.0 at the close. IHI Corp. (TOKYO:7013) declined 4.19% or 24.0 points to end at 549.0 and Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:9983) was down 3.68% or 2130.0 points to 55740.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1251 to 630 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nitto Boseki Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:3110) rose to all time highs; gaining 7.79% or 43.0 to 595.0. Shares in Shinsei Bank, Ltd. (TOKYO:8303) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.86% or 10.0 to 269.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 7.84% to 20.92.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.52% or 0.29 to $56.63 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.36% or 0.23 to hit $61.84 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.33% or 3.80 to trade at $1167.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.00% to 123.08, while EUR/JPY rose 0.11% to 136.57.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 96.21.
