A meteor shower is expected early Wednesday morning, May 6, 2015. This meteor shower is caused by Earth traveling though the debris of the tail of Halley's comet.

According to NASA, the peak of this meteor shower is expected at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Obviously it will be too light at that point. But there should be meteors to see just before sunrise Wednesday morning. Anywhere between 10 and 30 meteors could be visible early Wednesday morning.

This is a cloud forecast for 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015. The black areas are where no clouds are expected. Clear areas are limited to patches across Michigan.

Every location in Michigan won't be able to see the meteor shower, due to cloud cover. The second image is a forecast of cloud cover at 5 a.m. Wednesday morning. The black areas are areas where no cloud cover is anticipated. The bright colors are areas where clouds are expected. The cloud cover will be so randomly organized that you are just going to have to look out the window when you wake up Wednesday morning.

Another piece of good news is meteors may be visible again Thursday morning. The peak will have passed, but the clouds will be less Thursday morning.

Where do we look for the meteors? NASA advises to look nearly straight up.
