A NEW care home could be built in Basingstoke if plans are approved by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
Choice Care Group has applied to the borough council for permission to build an eight-bedroom care home and a new access to the site on land adjacent to Kings Lodge in Worting Road, Basingstoke.
The company is proposing to name the new home Oakley Lodge, and it will cater for adults with learning disabilities, mental disorders and complex emotional and behavioural needs.
Seven full-time employees and two part-time employees will work at the new home.
The application says: “Choice actively encourages individuals to become more self-reliant to make decisions for themselves and in many cases to ultimately move on to more independent living arrangements.
“Choice’s care homes provide a safe but stimulating environment for adults and young people (aged 18 and over) where the individuals are supported to achieve positive outcomes in whatever way is meaningful to them.”
It added: “The scheme will bring local employment to the area whilst meeting a shortfall in specialised residential care in Basingstoke.
“This will improve the lives of service users and their families. The scheme therefore has a limited impact on the surrounding areas but will bring many other benefits.”
