City of London Investment Trust Plc. (CTY.L) Thursday said half-year net return on ordinary activities before taxation fell to 25.62 million pounds from 100.22 million pounds.
Return per ordinary share was 8.71 pence, compared to 37.81 pence last year.
Gross revenue and capital gains plunged to 30.98 million pounds from 104.82 million pounds, as the prior year included hefty capital return.
Net asset value per ordinary share as at December 31, 2014 was 378.5 pence, while it totaled 377.5 pence as at June 30, 2014.
The company's net asset value total return was 2.1 percent, due to the below average exposure to the oil and mining sectors which were hurt by the weakness of oil and other commodity prices.
Among the biggest stock contributors held in the portfolio were Phoenix in the life assurance sector, Croda in chemicals and Land Securities in Real Estate Investment Trusts.
