Amarsee: Nadi Can Do It

The Pranesh Amarsee-coached- Nadi football side have set their sights on winning the 2015 Galaxy Premier League.

The side currently leads the points table with three points ahead of Rewa (1), Labasa (1) and debutant Tailevu Naitasiri.

Nadi have won the league on eight occasions since 1978.

Team director Javed Ahmed said their objective was to be consistent in their performance every week.

“We have been going close in the last two years with a great chance to win it in 2012,” said Ahmed.

“Players have responded very well and are very committed to training which is great to see early in the season.

We have been working hard on our weekly training programme making sure we have a solid structure to follow and also identify and improve individual player weakness is a key area we are working on.”

The Jetsetters will bank for another win against defending champions Suva on Saturday at Prince Charles Park, Nadi. The clash kicks off at 2pm.

“We believe our squad has matured with players like William Valentine, Safeem Buksh, Jolame Vukivuki and Rahul Krishna playing together for two years along with the experienced players,” he added.

The management is impressed with the attitude of their upcoming players like Waisake Tabucavu from Taveuni, former Ba rep Varun Kumar and Ronald Kumar for forcing their way into the team after a great performance in the National Club Championship.

Meanwhile, Ahmed also paid tribute to their Nadi youth midfielder Muni Shalit Reddy who died while swimming with the Fiji Under-17 team in Samoa on Tuesday.

“We are still in shock at such a tragic loss of a promising player.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family particularly his father and mother, who have remained strong which is so difficult after such a loss.

“The players are very saddened by this loss. We will play and work hard to dedicate the win to him.

“We had identified him as someone who had great potential and future in soccer,” he said.
