What do you feel are the biggest challenges facing the city over the next four years, and how do you plan to approach those issues?
Campbell: The most important issues involve effectively allocating resources in a manner that provides the most services to the citizens starting with what they need. Our resources are limited and we can't keep asking for more taxes.
Kinslow: Economic development, I believe, is an issue that we should address. Working hand in hand with our chamber of commerce to support all of our local businesses and continuing to work on bringing new businesses to our area. Our current economic development committee is working hard by visiting cities that are similar in size to ours to develop a plan that would insure proper growth. The planning and implementation of the correct infrastructure is imperative to our city's future.
What qualities, skills and experience make you the better-qualified candidate?
Campbell: Government is about the people, not just a special group of individuals or special interest. I have a proven record of listening to all the people. As mayor, I've proven I am capable of developing plans for the council to consider, develop budgets and recommend resources, and manage projects that council approves, such as the Senior Center, city-wide parks and trails system, all developed as a team.
