NEW FACES

Bilal Khan has joined Cotton-O’Neil Clinic’s allergy, asthma and immunology practice at 901 S.W. Garfield, and is accepting new patients. Khan most recently practiced at Kansas Medical Clinic PA in Topeka. He received his medical degree at the University of Punjab, Pakistan, in 2002. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2008, and completed a fellowship in Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at the University of Alabama in 2010. He completed a second fellowship in allergy and immunology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2012.

RECOGNITION

Leo Pellant, golf course superintendent at Topeka Country Club, recently was recognized for 35 years of service at TCC. After graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in landscape horticulture, Pellant started his career at the club on Aug. 12, 1979, as assistant golf course superintendent. He was promoted to golf course superintendent in 1997.

Craig Larsen, of Topeka, and Margaret Stenseng, of Lawrence, qualified for Waddell & Reed’s annual Circle of Champions conference recognizing the company’s top financial advisers. Larsen, who has been in the financial services industry for 31 years since joining Waddell & Reed in 1983, has earned the honor 27 times. It was the second honor for Stenseng, a 21-year veteran of the financial services industry who joined Waddell & Reed

in 1993.

Evan Johnson, John Martin, Lisa Manley and Aric Harrington, all of Topeka, and have been named recipients of Waddell & Reed’s Crest Award, which are given to the firm’s most productive financial advisers. Johnson has been in the financial services industry for 43 years, all with Waddell & Reed; Martin has been with the company for more than 32 years; Manley joined Waddell & Reed in 2000; and Harrington joined the firm in 2006.

Cadet Nathan Edgar, of The University of Kansas Army ROTC’s Jayhawk Battalion, was awarded the Military Officers Association of America Award, the Armed Forces Bank Performance Award and the United Services Automobile Association Warrior Spirit Award this summer during the Cadet Command Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Knox, Ky. Edgar, originally from Greenleaf, attends Washburn University, a partnership school of The University of Kansas Army ROTC program.

NAMES

Natalie Haag, executive vice president/general counsel for Capitol Federal Bank and Capitol Federal Financial in Topeka, recently began serving as president-elect of the Kansas Bar Association. In addition, Gerald L. “Jerry” Green, of Hutchinson, became president of the KBA, while Stephen N. Six, of Kansas City, became vice president. Also, Gregory P. Goheen, of Kansas City, was elected secretary-treasurer, and Gary Ayers, of Wichita, was elected a district 7 governor.

Meadowlark Toastmasters has installed the following officers for 2014-15: Lorraine Jessepe, president; Eric Smith, vice president of education; Kathleen Erickson, vice president of membership; Craig Hagelgantz, vice president of public relations; Maureen Stamper, secretary; and Dwight Rumpel, treasurer.

Kansas State University’s Master of Agribusiness program is offering travel to Brazil and Argentina to learn about the food and agriculture industry in South America. The tour is scheduled for Feb. 20 through March 7, 2015, and is open to anyone with an interest in international agribusiness. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation is seeking grant applications from school personnel — including nurses, teachers and administrators — interested in improving the overall health of their students while encouraging them to build life-long healthy habits. The maximum grant amount through the Healthy Habits for Life program is $1,000 and grants are limited to one per school. Applications must be postmarked or received electronically no later than Oct. 10, with the funds distributed in mid-December. Grant recipients can use the funds for programs offered during the 2015 calendar year. A grant application and additional information is available at www.bcbsks.com/foundation.
